Practical Plug and Play

Plug the units to your epees and start fencing! Units will communicate directly with each other. No need to pair and unpair to a central unit or smartphone. No need to set up a table at the center.

Each unit will communicate with any other unit. Just set them to the same channel.

Use cases:

Useful for training locations that are not permanently made for fencing.

Fence at home or at the park with friends.

Practice bouts on the competition venue right before the actual competition

Useful as a tester too

Very Visible

The whole 5x4 cm front face lights up through a silicone light diffuser visible from any angle.

Bright LEDs at the rear face light up the inner guard area for extra visibility.

Spectators

The devices are plugged on your weapons, where you, the umpire and the spectators have their focused view. A quick blue light (with no buzzer) will illuminate on your unit if you get hit, just in case you don't notice your opponent's light.

Tough!

The front face and electronics are encased in a 6mm block of solid collision absorbing silicone resin. A unique lamination process integrates the thin cover with the silicone to make one continuous solid object that will withstand direct epee hits through the years. (Unit on the right shows the silicone block without the top cover).

Training Tool

A short buzzer mode feature gives a short beep when the point is depressed (within FIE timing compliance). This allows you more effective training with the coach as it provides feedback when a valid hit is made. Useful for practicing throw hits. The FIE compliant lock out can be used to train actions while also practicing to avoid a double light.

Slim Sides

The rear face has a thickness of less than .5 cm . This will not crowd the inner guard and touch your hand. The whole unit has a thickness of only 1.2 cm.

Personalize

The front face is sticker friendly. You can affix transparent stickers of your club or country.

Light Weight

Weighs only 39 grams. Not much more than your typical connector

Reliable Radio

Uses a simple and very reliable 433 MHz radio transceiver. Unlike Bluetooth and Wi-Fi there is less radio traffic on these frequencies. There is no complex data addressing and frequency hopping. No delay in hit detection or lock out signaling in areas with lots of smartphones like malls or exhibition areas. 6 channels allow up to 6 active pistes. (A 315 MHz radio option will allow another set of 6 pistes to operate)

Long Life User Replaceable rechargeable Battery

Onboard LiPo rechargeable battery lasts more than 4 hours of actual fencing. On off switch allows the battery to hold its charge for up to 6 months and prolong battery life. The unit will go on standby automatically if no hit is detected for 8 mins. Rechargeable batteries can be replaced by a competent armorer (simple soldering required). The 401030 LiPo battery is very common and can be bought in eBay or AliExpress at an economical price.

No Sweat

Guard hit cancellation functions sometimes confuse sweaty jackets as metallic parts and sporadically will not register a hit. We decided not to employ guard cancellation functions. When the guard is hit, this will be detected as a hit. Guard hits do not happen often and is fairly apparent when it does. This can be resolved by the umpire or simple fencer honesty. The device operation however will not be affected by any amount of sweat. There will never be any second guessing if a hit was made or not. The device will work even if your mask has paint chipped off! It is forgiving with the equipment. It will work with your regular club epees.
